Lakeside 27/2/2008

It has been many years since they have allowed cars around Lakeside raceway, Dijon from The Racing Room was the first person able to run a event at Lakeside. The cars were not racing, it was for track experience and time trials, the variety of cars was amazing from Golf GTI's to WRX's and GT3 Porsche and every thing in between. I was asked to come and take some photos and actually got to drive the track in my London Taxi. Not that i was going fast it was to look for locations. The cars were split up into groups and had 10 minute sessions of 5 laps per session. Each driver had around 25 laps for the day.

Marcus Bell Seminar

I have known Marcus through my work with Canon Australia for the last couple of years, he was kind enough to speak at a Canon Professional Seminar that i had organised a couple of years ago. I love his style, he is very laid back and has a photojournalistic approach to wedding photography, he is also a really nice guy that has a genuine passion for photography that is very evident in his images.

Todays presentation was excellent and i have gained more insite into this wonderful world of photography. I concider myself very passionate about what i do, if you know me, im not telling you anything you didnt already know. But when you hear someone like Jerry Ghionis, Marcus Bell, Yervant, Rob Heymen or anyone that has succeeded within this industry, it always inspires me to do bigger and better with my photography.

Well done Marcus, i take my hat off to your passion, emotion and all round niceness.

Money well spent.

Swingfest 2008

About 3 years ago i shot a really nice couple Wayne & Litsa and i have stayed in touch with them, i was very pleased when Wayne asked me to shoot a event being held on the Gold Coast on the 23rd called Swingfest.

This was a masked ball with over 500 attending and partying on till 3am. I had set up a portable studio and back drop and had photographed some amazing costumes and masks, due to this being a adult event i am unable to post many images on here. I pride myself on being very discrete with any image i take. The following images are published with permission from the subjects and are mostly staff and pole dancers from the event.

We Got Camper Trailer...Love Ebay

Wow...we have been talking about buying a Camper Trailer to start getting away a bit more often, so we got on to Ebay and started looking around, its amazing what you can find on there, after some looking around we found a real beauty.. Its huge, 3 rooms with sewn in ground sheets and mozzie nets on all doors and windows. You could sleep about 20 people in it fi you wanted too, not that we want to of course. We are really looking forward to getting away for a weekend. We had to go down to Yatala industrial estate to put the thing up as it was too big to put up in the front yard, Ruby(My daughter) was very excited...

Aaron & Mandi Valentines Day Shoot

Aaron and i have been chatting on MSN for a few years now and he keep threatening to bring Mandi in for a photo shoot, what he didn't know was that i had been talking to Mandi and we had arranged a Valentines Day shoot for them both.

They are a lovely couple and the shoot was relaxed and fun. Mandi was a little nervous to start with but we had met a few times and when she was used to me posing her she relaxed a lot and we got some great images.

The most amazing eyes.....

AIPP Hair of the dog

Hair of the dog is a annual group of semina's held by the AIPP (Australian Institute of professional photographers) in Brisbane. It is a series of presentations by leading photographers on there work. The speakers are all very different and give you great insite into how other people within this industry have developed there style and businesses

Stephen Jones did a great presentation on APPA (Australian Professional Photographers Awards) and how to shoot award winning images and as he is a Master photographer 3 times over his advice is invaluable. I will be looking to submit some work into this competion next year.

Looking forward to todays presentations, i have choosen to see a few wedding photographers to see how they have developed to become top of there trade. They include Peter Pfister, Rob Heymen, Peter Rossi, and Johannes Van Kan and tomorrow My mate Jerry Ghionis, cant get enough of Jerry.

Jerry Ghionis workshop-Perth

Wow.. I am in total awe of this guy, he has totally re inspired me to shoot images, not just wedding but all images, he has a wonderful way of teaching that puts you at ease and inspires you beyond anything I have known before. Even after the first day my knowledge and confidence has improved beyond anything i would have thought. Have a look at Jerry's Website

In your life you might meet 50,000 people. Out of these people maybe 3 of 4 you would say "Change your life" Jerry Ghionis is one of those people, i have been to many, many seminars and scribbled pages of notes and I don’t think that if you added them up (and removed the doodles) you would have 10 pages of notes that I might look back over once or twice. I wrote notes till my hand cramped at Jerry’s workshop, i have half a book of notes that I have re read 5 times already and I will continue to read them. I would lay money on it that ANY photographer in the world would benefit from a Jerry workshop. His ability to see light and to capture it is breathtaking and inspiring beyond words. He teaches in a way that you hang off every word, I don’t thing i looked at my watch once or doodled once in 4 days. Jerry I bow my head to you, it’s by far the best money I have ever spent on self improvement

Bring on the weddings...
