Underwater Paintings

I was asked to photograph some large underwater canvas paintings for possible reproduction for a commercial customer, they were around 2 meters long and about a meter wide.

The artist is a gentleman called Gary Davis, his paintings are quite amazing, such wonderful rich and vibrant colour's, he has a fantastic imagination and his work is absolutely brilliant.

To do the images justice I had to set up a frame to allow me to photograph from directly above the paintings to keep all lines and proportions correct, then i lit it so that there were no shadows or highlights and the colour reproduction was spot on. This is one of the advantages of having a working studio and the experience of over 25 years in this industry. This is the set up i built.

Lucas & Nikki

Nikki has just finished a beauticians course and as a way of congratulating her, Lucas arranged this photo shoot. I collected them from Ridges Hotel at Southbank and we went up to Kangaroo point cliffs , from there you get a lovely view over the city, Nikki had no idea this was going to happen so it was a complete surprise.

Well done Lucas for keeping it a secret.

Gold Coast Wedding Expo

Yesterday i went to the Gold Coast wedding Expo at the Arts center. This is one of the biggest wedding expos on the coast and is held twice a year. Just about anything you want for a wedding was there from Photographers to Cake makers and wedding venues.

I had a wonderful response to my stand and have over 50 leads for weddings in 2009.

God i feel like such a tourist this month, although I will say you tend to get a bit lazy when you live somewhere and don't go and do the tourist things, I have really enjoyed taking Jason around.

I have a friends son staying with me at the moment, he is 23 and out from England, Jason"s father was my best man at my wedding and his mother has been a good friend for over 30 years.

Jason is only here for a short while and so we have been doing the tourist thing with him when we can, we have been down to New South Wales, Dream world, Natural Arch, Tambourine Mountain, and Australia Zoo.

Gold Cost Wedding Expo

Gold Coast Arts Centre are holding a Wedding Expo next Sunday 15th June 2008, it will be the largest expo of its kind on the Gold Coast this year and will carer for anyone that is getting married in the coming 12 months.

I will be having a stand there and will be promoting my wedding photography as well as my Trash the Dress photography.

Whian-Whian NSW

I have a wonderful friend named Lionel, he lives on a fantastic property in Northern New South Wales. I first met Lionel over 20 years ago on my first visit to Australia in 1984, his property is around 30 Acres with its own waterfall and swimming hole. I wanted to go back and check out the waterfall as a location for a future Trash the dress shoot. It was also a excuse to take Jason back, he is the son of a friend who lives in London, he is out for a short holiday and the last time he was at Lionels he was 4 years old.

I think Lionel must have done something to Jason last time he was here because a funny thing happened down at the falls..
